Dakota Johnson was born as Dakota Mayi Johnson on 4 October 1989 in Austin, Texas, U.S. She is an American actress and model. In 1999 she made her film debut at age 10 in the 1999 film Crazy in Alabama.
In 2006 she was chosen to be Miss Golden Globe. After high school, Johnson appeared in a variety of films: she held supporting roles in the films The Social Network (2010), Beastly (2011), 21 Jump Street (2012), The Five-Year Engagement (2012), and Need for Speed (2014). Following her Fifty Shades success, Johnson appeared in the crime biopic Black Mass (2015), Luca Guadagninos drama film A Bigger Splash (2015), the comedy film How to Be Single (2016), Guadagninos horror remake film Suspiria (2018), and the thriller film Bad Times at the El Royale (2018). Riding on Fifty Shades of Greys success, Johnson has kept busy with other projects.
In 2006, Johnson signed with IMG Models. Though acting is her primary work, she has since modeled for MANGO brands jeans line in 2009 and shot the Rising Star campaign for Australian fashion label Wish in 2011.
She danced for twelve years, performing in ballets like The Nutcracker as well as other school plays. Johnson began modelling when she was 12, appearing on the cover of Teen Vogue along with other celebrity kids. She made her film debut in the 1999 movie Crazy in Alabama, where she and her half-sister, Stella Banderas, played the daughters to their real-life mother, Melanie Griffith.
