Short biography of Meisa Kuroki

Japanese actress, model and singer Satsuki Shimabukuro (島袋 さつき, Shimabukuro Satsuki) popular by her stage name Meisa Kuroki was born on May 28, 1988 in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. Kuroki was discovered by a fashion scout While in she was in junior high school in Okinawa and began modeling. At begining modeling exclusively for the popular fashion magazine JJ. In 2007, she graduated from Okinawa Actors School. She is signed to Sony Music Japan and is represented by the agency Sweet Power.

In 2004, she made her acting debut in the Kōhei Tsuka play Atami Satsujin Jiken: Pyonyang Kara Kita Onna Keiji. Same year she made her television debut in the Fuji TV drama, Medaka. In 2007, she appeared in Fumihiko Soris CGI anime film Vexille and in 2010, she played the role of Yuki Mori in the live-action film Space Battleship Yamato. In 2011, Kuroki co-starred with Mikako Tabe in her first serial drama lead role in the TV Asahi drama Jiu: Keishicho Tokushuhan Sosakei.

Talking about her music career, Kuroki performed on the soundtrack of the 2007 film Crows Zero, In 2008, her debut song - Like This was released through the Sony Music Japan and announced on 17 February 2009, that her first EP, Hellcat, would be released on 8 April 2009. In 2010, her second EP, Attitude, was released and in 2011 Kuroki released her first studio album, Magazine, which peaked at number 6 on the Oricon Weekly Albums chart.

She have worked for the fashion magazines JJ and 25ans as a model and also released two photobooks, Love Meisa, and Missmatch. She has modeled for the popular Japanese fashion magazine JJ, among others. She is the current Japanese representative for Giorgio Armani and Epson. She has appeared in numerous films, TV dramas, commercials and stage productions. In 2010, French cosmetic brand LOreal choose her as the international face.
