Short biography of Barbara Mori

Barbara Mori Ochoa was born on 2 February 1978 Montevideo, Uruguay and her paternal grandfather was Japanese. She is Mexican actress, model, producer and writer. At the age of 14, while working as a waitress fashion designer Marcos Toledo invited her to work as a model. In 1992, she started her career as a fashion model at the age of 14. In 1997, she became an actress when she co-starred on the smash TV-hit Mirada De Mujer with TV Azteca. In 2004, Her big break came with the telenovela Rubi by rival network Televisa, in which she played the main character. She participated in the comedy series Tic Tac and played a role in the smash TV-hit Mirada de Mujer. In 2000, her first movie role was shot when she was cast opposite Arath De La Torree in the Mexican romantic comedy Inspiracion and it was a box-office success in the cinemas. She portrayed a negative role in Subete A Mi Moto together with Vanessa Acosta (2002), Televisa (2004), Indian movie Kites(2010), Viento En Contra(2011). She earned further international fame through her film Violanchelo. She obtained the starring role in the blockbuster film La Mujer de mi Hermano as Zoe (2005). Barbara Mori was diagnosed with early stage cancer and luckily was able to survive. She shared her ordeal with the audiences in docu-drama titled 1 a Minute.

Awards and Achievements
In 1998, she won TVyNovelas Best Female Revelation award for the telenovela Mirada de Mujer.
In 2005 she won the TVyNovelas award in the Best Lead Actress category for the telenovela Rubi.
